Nintendo already has a a tarnished business history that it keep under wraps in its pursuit to make its products no 1. The attempt to ruin Sofmap, CEX and Game Genie in the US are examples of how far trhis money grabbing company will go.
Forcing the DS into kids hands at school will make them all "need" a console regardless of parents income. This is exploiting children and parents in a vile manner, though i expect nothing less from a company with Nintendos ethics.

Comment from a US educators Blog expressing concern of this move
Jeff is right I was at a conference with a Gaming marketing consultant and we were talking about what it takes to keep market share of gaming companies.
I know there are educators that think commercial gaming is great because it motivates kids and has them working in groups. This is a delusional rationalization. That is the same motivators behind gangs.
Basically the way a child wins a game are these repeatable processes: Killing, destroying, cheating (Cheating is also the cyber community branding program) violence, breaking laws and no consequences.
The marketing consultant an I talked about how Sony and Gaming companies are force to go more extreme on these issues with each revision of the game and movie in order to addict (called brand loyalty) more children to tha companies gaming process and brand. Watch how Transformers went even more extreme with each version.
We must be very clear on the difference between commercial Gaming and educational gaming. It is shocking that few know the difference.
We need to get copies of your local gaming store magazines and thumb through it and and the reviews.

They're up against it with the iPhone's current popularity. Their developers will have to compete with the countless number of independent iPhone app creators on this, and then try to sell it at a much higher price. Good luck.
