YAWN!!! and akward! this will be great for kids! but thats about it. I dont blame nintendo they cant take on Sony and Micro$oft head on. They have to come up with "gimmicks" to compete. I call them gimmicks but I am well aware they also sold the most consoles, and plenty of people enjoy the gimmicks. its just not for me. I am not saying we shouldnt try to reinvent the wheel. but I dont think 3d, or Move, or Kinect, or WII U, add ANYTHING to games. just look at angry birds! 1 dollar! its simple and its still fun. You dont need gimmicks to make a good game. you just need a GOOD GAME!

Like the umpteenth version of iPhone or iPod? A tablet PC (done years before)? And I don't see Apple doing much gaming hardware, unless you count the Pippin from the 90s....

kujiranikusuki, agree about the gimmicks, but Nintendo is also famous for making fun, iconic games. Their most famous titles are generally in-house productions, not so much for Sony/MS.

Read the review in today's New York Times--he was quite enthusiastic about this new controller's possibilities. One thing Nintendo and Apple have in common, they're (almost) always about the user experience.

This is great! I will buy it for sure and it will be a great success. The more the control will have features, the better it is. During the middle of a game, I will now be able to go take a Sh!it in peace while still playing

Whenever nintendo comes out with a new gaming machine everybody thinks, 'wow, it will have great potential!' But then all you get is a newer version of mario, zelda and donkey kong.

That's like saying there's a new restaurant in town but all they offer is food that's as awesome as the restaurants already in town. You just named some great series with consistently strong releases....

But I forgot to add, you have to wait a year or so between each release.

Seems to be a step backwards. There's no way a screen that large - even at 1080p resolution - is going to be playable by more than one person at a time. "Motion Detection"? Really? How much motion are you going to be able to do in front of a miniscule 6.2" screen?! At least ONE hand is going to be needed to hold the unit (maybe both hands depending on how much it weighs). Perhaps the unit itself is what is to be moved. If that is the case, the 1080p resolution is wasted because your eyes will constantly be jerking all over the place trying to keep the screen in focus and oriented. Fine details will be consistently lost.

Let me correct myself, this appears to be a MAJOR step backwards.

The controller is bigger than the actual machine, and if you can already play games on the controller, without using the machine or a TV, then why didn't they just release the controller?? What's the point?

I haven't played games in years and think the SNES is the best console ever though, so I'm hardly an informed person...

It's all about the games. If there's dearth of games that take advantage of a console's potential, then it's wasted.

There are already Youtube videos of E3 users trying their hands on the Wii-U and its controller, so ya guys can watch for yourselves what it can do.

Fadamor, I don't think the controller can do HD, just SD. And unfortunately only one of it can be connected to the Wii-U at a time (while up to 4 Wii controllers can be connected in addition).

Hmm, why? Seems like a good idea to me - you can keep playing while not near the TV. Obviously this will be more for games that aren't really motion-intensive, like the retro games, etc. Hasn't been done before, I think. Plus it's a convergence device - video calls, etc.

I think you would use regular controllers for normal use and this controller for other functions or remote gaming... Not sure that I am sold on it but it looks quite intriguing.

Once again Nintendo fails to be creative. Nintendo has and always will be an inferior product. Sure, they make a million Mario games that vary slightly (mario race... mario race in snow... mario race with mushrooms... mario race in Georgia), but that's it. The DS versions of games are by far inferior to the real thing. This will be no different -- just bigger and costlier.
