Nokia - yeuch. I had a Nokia from J-phone which was fine, but my work phone here in NZ is a Nokia and I hate it. It's nowhere near as intuitive to use as my Motorola, so I avoid using it for texting whenever possible.
Finnish cell phone maker Nokia plans to start mobile phone service in Japan - I'm all excited, as I've been thinking of switching to a nokia handset. Now I might be moving to nokia network!
the Finnish manufacturer will use communication lines owned by NTT Docomo - my excitement deflates slightly, as I ain't gonna docomo prices.
The world’s largest cellphone maker will sell high-end handset models in Japan, targeting wealthy consumers, to strengthen its brand image. Nokia plans to sell handsets decorated with jewels for 1 million to several million yen - My excitement is all gone flaccid. Oh, nokia nokia. Your brand image is like a street hooker, providing the masses with cheap services, not like a luxury prostitute, dressed in jewels and milking the few rich. Now, I'll stick to my soft bank...
PreasureGelf: the excellent N95's been available from Softbank now for ages. Total bi-lingual support for e-mail & texting, GPS, 'real' internet browsing, iMode, Bluetooth, WLAN, 5 mpix camera, excellent MP3 & Video, bar-code reader, MS-Office comaptible suite, open system (I've installed a Slingbox player so I can watch UK TV in Japan.)
Also of note is that most Japanese Foma 3G Smartphones run on the Symbian operating system from the UK, 70% owned by Nokia and soon to be 100% owned (subject to EU approval.)
Thenewfront: take a look at Slingbox.com. You need to install the device in your own country and have it connected to the net and to your TV aerial or Sky box (you don't need a computer.) You can then control your Sky box from the net and watch whatever you want. My Slingbox is in my bro's room in London. You can buy the device in any decent computer/electrical store. Sounds a pain but in fact it's a doddle.
