The characters are not "real" as such, so banning the game seems to be quite "un-democratic", although the actions of the human players is very real.

Logistically completely different, but is playing Super Mario an irreverent act in a solemn place? Or is the actual practice of using a digital device in toy mode the disrespectful act? Or is the use of any similar device in such surroundings not appropriate? Maybe better to ban all devices as some one could be looking at porn while visiting a sacred site - a highly impolite act some might say.

And about this statement from the article -

Other countries like China, Russia etc are often demonized by democratic nations govts and or media, but Saudi Arabia rarely, if ever gets strongly criticized - just the occasional "naughty boy" tap - with "Boy" being the operative word.

The old folks are used to emoticons, so emoticons don't threaten them. Pokemon Go is new and therefore scary to people who are of a mind to be scared by everything new.

No need to get legal about it, just have Niantic exclude Gyms, Pokestops, and random Pokemon spawns from happening and players will naturally go elsewhere.

Sheesh. There are so many people bad-mouthing Pokemon Go. It's a much healthier hobby than too many other things around in the modern world. I'd rather hear funny pieces about Pokemon Go on the news as a break from all the war and tragedy on the news. My daughter has a lot of fun with other young adults playing it, as well as socializing more with younger relatives. Lighten up, people. Rediscover things you find fun and you may not care so much about the kind of fun others are having.

Actually scientist normally had déclared in the 90s that it was forbidden (because dangerous) to create a game that will mixte itself with everyday reality. The brain does not make the difference between imagination and everyday living so mixing both is actually very dangereous in the middle term. It can create allucination, vision, and endding up to contaminate de visual center of the brain(it will change the brain chemistry).

For now, it is pokemon but soon it will be ennemy to destroy with first person shooter game. You know how are the american when they smells blood money. They bite even harder without caring about the numbers of dead people behind their cash cow.

It is not advise to play too soon in life to those game, and young adult should not go above a few hours a week like a normal sport game that would keep you in shape.

The important part is mixing real activity like sport or cinema so the brain don't loose the sight that it is a game and not real life that include pokemon.
