Rakuten Mobile to open first dedicated store in Osaka

Fusion Communications Corp, the telecommunications company of the Rakuten Group, will open its first dedicated Rakuten Mobile store, the Rakuten Mobile Shinsaibashi Store, on July 31. The store will be located in CRYSTA Nagahori, the underground shopping center located in Chuo-ku, Osaka.

Up until now, the majority of applications for Rakuten Mobile were carried out online, but at the Rakuten Mobile Shinsaibashi Store, customers will be able to receive explanations about Rakuten Mobile services from staff, as well as submit applications. They will also be able to freely pick up and try out devices, which will be on display in the store. In addition, the store will be equipped with six counters to enable staff to handle more customer inquiries and procedures at the same time. The interior of the store is decorated in a stylish black-themed design, created under the supervision of Creative Director Kashiwa Sato.

To date, Rakuten Mobile application/consultation counters have been set up in the two Rakuten Cafe locations in Tokyo, and in the Rakuten Eagles Goods Shop in Sendai, Miyagi Prefecture. As Rakuten Mobile expands its presence into the Kanto and Tohoku regions, there was also strong demand from customers in the Kansai region for a space where they could make inquiries or sign up for contracts in person. In light of that, the decision was made to establish the first dedicated store in Osaka, which will serve as the company’s foothold for future nationwide expansion.

Beginning with the Rakuten Mobile Shinsaibashi Store, Rakuten Mobile said it will work to expand its presence and establish stores in major cities across Japan in order to allow users to more easily join the service.
