Which facilities? 2 are in Hokkaido, 1 in Ibaraki, and 1 in Aomori. Aomori is a components factory and Ibaraki makes semi-conductors, so what is the damage? Was it a transportation problem, mostly? The press ought to be focusing on some of the companies to see what damage is really evident and what is simply excuses. We have to remember that disasters are good times to erase a lot of problems.

There is one facility in Yamagata, I've seen it the couple of times I got on the Yamagata Shinkansen.

@gonemad: Thanks. Still a bit vague, but seems optimistic. Only time will tell if they stick it out in those communities, or this country for that matter.
