Apple spokesman Steve Dowling says the company does not comment on rumors and speculation.

I'm with Sydenham here. This is a very generous use of the word "report". Perhaps you meant "chit-chat"?

There's been talk of this tablet for at least 6 months now, if not more. I thought tablets were dead?

this will eventually bridge the gap between cell phone and laptop. Many things an iPhone cannot do well (attach documents, work on files, programs, programming, mobile tv, too small visually and physically, usb, print). Conversely many laptops will also become cell phones.

Expect all students to eventually have these. Track students (cell) and learning while on the bus, train, and even walking! Assignments will be sent wirelessly or by cell (Japan data network still expensive)

I don't particularly expect them to be available in Japan during the first batch. Could be wrong. Will keep an eye on them, though.
