Still stuck with 32-bit processor isn't it? How will this compared to the 64-bit A8 processor of the iPhone? (non-biased comment from someone who doesn't have a phone)

Hahaha... desperate times for these companies in the shadow of Apple's outstanding success with its new launch. I see Blackberry is still clutching at straws. I wonder if they'll be any new units of that brand sold in Japan, as Japan stopped supporting it some time ago.

In a statement to the news website TechCrunch, Apple said: “We have received reports of an issue with the iOS 8.0.1 update. We are actively investigating these reports and will provide information as quickly as we can.

At least all users will get the update, which the same could not be said for Galaxy users. With Samsung releasing new devices seemingly weekly, you're stuck with a device that will never get updates. This is an inherent problem with the Android ecosystem (I know because I own several devices).

AAhh Samung has turned into the new Sony. Sayonara Samsung.

Samsung

Sayonara Samsung??? LO freaking L. They have the largest market share in the world, double Apple, they are allied with Google, and their phones don't bend. They are a giant and squashed pitiful Sony like a bug. Samsung makes products that are in almost every house in the world. Notice the mention of whose market share is climbing? 2 Chinese firms plus HTC not mentioned. Notice the countries involved in the story and the missing country with no market share?

Perfect time to release their new products, especially considering how Apple has experienced so many issues with iOS8 and the iPhone Gumby... err... 6. Maybe some people may wisen up and buy a smartphone that really "just works".

It'll be interesting to see how fast Samsung can get the Galaxy Note 4 into the US market, especially now they said the original October 17, 2014 release date has been moved up. While I like the hardware specs of the Galaxy Note 4, I'd wish Samsung designed it so it could work with "pure" version of Android, including Google's own user interface "skin."

I would take Sony over Samsung any day. That being said Apple deserves alot of credit for beauty, technology and innovation.

Samsung who?

Seems kinda pathetic to see the world get so worked up about smart phones, are our lives becoming that frigging boring!!! Surely there is more to life than the latest IT gadget, I am really hating all the digital non-sense!!!

I have the Samsung Galaxy Note II and in general it's good, but just way too big. The stylus that it comes with scratches every screen protector I've tried. So you wind up with fine scratch marks all over your screen protector which distorts the beautiful screen quality. I don't even use it anymore, I use a generic stylus with a spongy surface. Next purchase will be an Apple.

The stylus that it comes with scratches every screen protector I've tried.

Use a proper protector like the glass spigen GLAS.t, it won't scratch...when using a generic stylus you'll lose the pressure sensitivity which makes your note 2 an....iphone with limitations.

Still stuck with 32-bit processor isn't it? How will this compared to the 64-bit A8 processor of the iPhone?

The processors of the new androids are still superior to the A8, with a meager 1gb of memory the 64 bit chip has no clear advantages yet over the 32 bit processors. The lack of true multi tasking in this age of time is still astonishing..... In the future 64 bit processors will make more sense, but more so on an android than on an iphone with its by Apple imposed limitations.

I have no love for Samsung, Apple or any other company, because they only cost me money...but IF you spend your money you might as well get the best one available..which I think is an android. The truth is though that you can get your iphones for free here in Japan...so for the folks who don't depend on multi tasking or the other advantages (open system) android has...the wise choice would be an Iphone...I reckon that if most of the pro-iphone folks really had to fork out $900,-, they wouldn't choose so blindly.

I have a Samsung Note. I bought it because I am most familiar with Android OS. I will never buy another one. It is rubbish.

64 bit with still no multitasking ability makes the 64 bit advantage useless.

Plus Samsung Galaxy Note 3 (the older phone), doesn't bend easily in your pocket, like the new iPhone's. Watch the Youtube videos of the two phones. Apple is getting flooded with consumer complaints that the aluminum casing bends too easily. You can even bend them with one thumb with enough pressure.

Japan should buy as much as iPhone's as they could, just so that a Korean company don't get a leg up in Japan.

Without a doubt, the best phone on the market is the Sony z3, a long-lasting battery, a gorgeous screen, an amazing camera, awesome battery life, stereo sound, water and dust proof and you support thet Japanese economy(for those who care) it bless the 6 out of the water, and slaps the s5 in the face....and best of all you don't need a case cause its sturdy as a brick.

Love my HTC one, Samsung's interface looks childish

HTC is worldwide and climbing fast. Sony WalkmanZ3 is a dead in the water Galapagos phone. Perhaps they can sell a few there to Darwins birds. Darwin did well there. Sony is losing billions and will drop phones like they have dropped computers.

Dutchduck is very correct and sony has being doing amazing since xperia z1

@jokpali

HTC is worldwide and climbing fast.

Sorry, but their global marketshare is less than 2%. They do make great phones, though.

https://www.comscore.com/Insights/Market-Rankings/comScore-Reports-May-2014-U.S.-Smartphone-Subscriber-Market-Share A few months old and the US only, but of course the biggest and most important market. Everyone follows America's lead..... Sony is nowhere to be found nor are the Japanese at all. They are non players except in their own protected market. Sony abandoned the laptop biz and anyone who bought one of those moronic Vaio's now owns an orphan. The same will happen with their phones. They are a weak and powerless company in deep RED ink. Read: Titanic. But the Chinese/Taiwanese are up and coming fast.
