Samsung phones are quality. I remember buying the Samsung A300 in 2001 in the UK, it was well ahead of its competitors. Samsung make good products, wish i could find them readily available in Japan.

Thi is good news! Competition is good for the consumers. I love my iPhone but I still don't like Softbank.

Korea is dominating Japan these days, why is it that you cant find them in Japan? Cars, phones, or TV. Wake up Japan, you are no longer kool.

guest, i agree. My local Joshin had Samsung flat screens for demonstartion games etc. when i asked where i can buy one, was told that they are not for retail sale, as they are not as good as Japanese tv`s.

Ridiculous but true. This problem as bisoy says ruins competition in Japan and makes us consumers pay higher than need be for goods.

This is important news, considering that it weren't for gratuitous cell phone expenditures, Japan's GDP would fall 5 percent. Maybe more.

Competition is good for the consumers, but when it comes to some custom OS which can't buy apps which work on any other phone and can't run apps you already bought on any other phone, the existence of competition is questionable.
