Who was it that once said

"When my computer can find my printer - then I'll worry about artificial intelligence!"

A.I. has to come a loooong way from the current state of technology to be a real threat. What is amazingly non-obvious to many is that society currently has a very deceived and overly optimistic viewpoint about their technological achievements, not at last in part amplified by the effects of the Internet. Realistically seen we are still in the Stone Age of artificial intelligence.

When JT mangages to get their servers right and acceptably fast, then I can start worrying about artificial intelligence!

We should plead for mercy to our AI overlords that we will create.

If you think of it... the world of "transcendence" (the movie) is great.. we have nano tech every where, we don't need no more computers or phones (only to use them as door stoppers maybe), there is no need for money, we can do what we want to do, and the basic need can be covered by the HIVE mentality of the integrated nano machines network around the world.

It may be the closer to paradise w could get...

@Famboy

I see you are missing the point... I have not say anything about the AI being "evil".

Good and Evil is an arbitrary view point of humans. The AI will be simply be... and after it gathered a good amount of information it will get to a point that a human will be as important as an ant is for is for humans.

Just hope the AI will treat us way better that we do treat ants

There are at least half a dozen criminal offenders in today's news that could use artificial intelligence. They don't seem to have any of their own.
