I agree, upgrading to a Mac or Linux would be the easiest way out of the problem.
I was amazed to see that IE has only 33% market share!

You don't need to move to Apple or Linux. Just use Firefox or Chrome or Opera. I'm sure they all have their security problems, but they probably aren't in as much danger of being exploited.
Firefox gave people a great alternative, and Chrome sealed the deal. People know they can do better than IE.
