Sharp unveils new WiMAX-enabled Galapagos tablet

TOKYO —

Sharp Corp said Wednesday that it will launch a new version of its electronic book reader Galapagos, which incorporates WiMAX technology.

The new 400-gram Galapagos, which has a 7-inch liquid crystal display, will go on sale Dec 9, Sharp officials said at a news conference. It features front and rear cameras, and 16 GB of RAM, and comes with Android 3.2 installed.

    Wonder if this will only last a month...like the previous try.

    It is likely to fail. Wimax is very good feature, but why Honeycomb?
    They should adopt ICS. Sharp is always sluggish to advanced technology, and its design is always crap.

    kaketama, nobody has ICS yet. I'm sure it will be pushed out over the next few months as the source is already out. I'm waiting for the ICS-based modded roms :)

    I know. But HTC and Sony Ericsson have already promised to update their devices launched this year. Sharp has not. Considering that this device will go on sale Dec 9, it is possible for Sharp to guarantee the update.

    price? this is just another android tablet, it won't matter if it shaves off 1mm or 1 gram, or 1 millisecond. at this moment, the price will determine its survival, like it or not.
