Sharp unveils ultra-thin TVs

Sharp Corp on Thursday unveiled eight new models of its ultra-thin Freestyle AQUOS F5 series of LCD TVs. The TVs come in four sizes— 20, 32, 40 and 60 inches.
Sharp said the biggest selling points of the TVs are their lightness and mobility. The 32-inch model, for example, is only 4 centimeters thick and weighs a mere 5.5 kilograms, while the 20-inch model is 2.5 kilograms—30-50% lighter than current models. The new models operate wirelessly, so there is no need for antenna cables. They can be hung on a wall or taken to any room in the house for convenience, Sharp said.
Prices will start at about 110,000 yen. The TVs will go sale in late September.

Too bad you can't get power by wireless too. As slim as these TVs might get, they still need a bulky AC adapter that ruins the whole picture. Care to notice how the human models have something tucked away in their big pockets?

Wall-warts aren't that big and could be housed internally even in that slim a TV.

Well, according to the data sheet on Sharp's site, this one has an external adapter. But for some reason I couldn't find any specific sizes or even pictures, only pictures of how slim and elegant the display itself is... Not saying that it's huge, but still...

why do we still talk about the dimensions of TVs in inches when the weight is given in kilos? The TVs sound good - althought right now I'd like the wireless antenna more than the TV!

Wouldn't it be easier for the models in the photo to be lugging around something smaller, like an iPad perhaps than a 32" LCD? See how much everyone loves Apple products?

hahah the ipod 6... they look like idiots carrying it... LCD is not the future of TV's OLED is the future of ultra thing TV's.
