Softbank to offer free calls between mobile, IP phones

TOKYO —

Softbank Corp said Friday it will offer free call services around the clock between users of its mobile phone and Internet Protocol telephone services.

Eligible for the new service are users subscribing to both of Softbank Mobile Corp’s White Plan discount mobile phone service and Softbank BB Corp’s Yahoo! BB ADSL broadband service using asymmetric digital subscriber lines.

Applications for the new service will be accepted from June 3.

The Softbank group hopes to attract more customers by launching free services between mobile and IP phones ahead of rivals. It currently provides free mobile phone services between same family members.

how about just doing a flat rate (unlimited) for calls softbank-softbank like they said they were going to do before, but then lied their way out of it... better yet, how about making the network work. As for "FREE CALLS" nothing is free. You need to pay a monthly fee. So Free is not correct. They should say "no connection charge for calls made to IP Phones"
