DoCoMo execs must be banging their heads against the wall.

No wonder Mr. Son can afford the US$120 million mansion in San Francisco, the largest amount ever paid for a single home property in the US. And LOSTINNAGOYA, great comment, lowering the prices just before the recession was a great move that docomo is taking forever to replicate.

I dont agree that the surge in profit is just due to iPhone factor. I think Softbank data plans are the cheapest and on cannot buy smartphone from Softbank without data plan.

DoCoMo data plans are the most expensive and one can buy a smartphone without data plan (Saw many people including me using DoCoMo smartphone on wifi only) DoCoMo should consider cutting down price of its data plan and make it more competitive.

@zichi: I understood it's illegal to unlock phones, breaching contracts with carriers. Jailbreaking is still legal. iOS6 JB will come this Sunday, during Superbowl.

LostinNagoya-san,

iOS6 JB will come this Sunday, during Superbowl.

I don't know why anyone would do this. I still use my old iPhone 3G; for Skype, for guitar tuning, as an iPod and as a remote control for the sound system in our apartment. And NO monthly fees to Softbank.

Taking MY Bank EVEN when he's making THAT much money he wants to charge 210 yen if you chose to want to pay via a paper bill at the store and not from directly from your account. What a rip-off!

It's not a rip-off. It's a reasonable charge for extra service (printing and mailing a paper bill) that is standard these days. It's added these days but it's not a new fee. The cost of printing and mailing used to be included in all bills. Now it's set as an extra fee because it's optional. Don't want to pay it? Then pay with auto-deduction.

There's no reason not to pay it automatically at your bank. Ask yourself this question: "Are you going to pay for the service?" If the answer is yes, then do it automatically at the bank and be done with it. If you're not going to pay for the service, cancel it.

Without the iphone, Softbank would have gone belly-up years ago.

With the iPhone, Softbank could still go belly up. Unlock phone, move back to Docomo.
