Overpriced console.... I doubt that this will be a big hit on today's market... One can build a gaming computer with a same budget but can be twice as powerful as this overpriced console.. $60 dollars per game? You've got to be kidding me. On PC, you can get maybe 5-15 top demanding games for less than 100 dollars.

Why does every news source say "unveiled"? Nothing has been unveiled except the controller and the massive amount of kick ass games that will be coming to the ps4. If only the would show a glimpse of the console. Anyway Im looking hugely forward to Watchdog! w00t

Thanks to overpriced consoles, great games such as Watchdogs are forced to downgrade their graphics and visual effects.

overpriced and crap spec-ed*

I would be very conservative about the sales expectations when this new console hits the market. The demand for these high performance, high priced game console is falling fast and seems like this is a trend that will continue for some time to come. I understand that sony, nintendo and ms xbox have a good following and they should capitalize with new gadgets and games but the new generation doesn't seem to be very attracted to them anymore. I am sure it is a great machine and my uncle will buy one but I will never see my cousin using it (figuratively).

It may entice me to get a Vita, which I didn't have any use for before now. I had the DS (until the screen broke), but it didn't get much use until my daughter got old enough to play it. (maybe the reason the screen is broken).

PS4 for me would be just to round out the edges of the current PS3, which was released with way too little memory 500MB (?) shared with graphics. The PS4 has 8GB, which is a welcome improvement. The PS3 also had issues with mics in online games. Some games were worse than others, but I think the PS3 is partially to blame.

The social aspects of the PS4 are just to pull in the younger generation that wants to gabb with anyone who will listen.

As far as the comparison with a gaming rig, it is a fair criticism. A good example is battlefield 3 which had much larger maps and more online players on PCs. A gaming rig should allow you access to more complex games, e.g., RTS, and better graphics, and it would still be a PC. My experience with gaming PCs were they were good for one year before the software was too sophisticated for the system. Upgrades only extended the life so far. I stopped using my "gaming PC" once I got tired of the constant upgrades and actually hit a wall and would have had to build a new one.

At least with the PS3, I got decent games and graphics for 7+ years.

But remember this is Sony, wait for the 2nd gen until they fix all the bugs.

Wow, so it's like a regular PC on steroids! Or, you know, like a current run of the mill PC gaming rig...

Yawn.

Integration with Facebook is an appealing point of a new console? That should be possible with a system update and some work on PSN. Don't see why they have to wait for new hardware.

So we'll be able to play a new Final Fantasy with slightly better graphics. A new Metal Gear Solid with slightly better graphics and an even more ridiculous storyline. So "the future of gaming" looks a lot like the past.

I'll still get one though.

Not true. You're not gonna build even a decent gaming rig on 500 dollars. A high end graphics card will cost most or all of that. Not mention high quality ram, processor and monitor. To build a good gaming rig will cost around 1000-1200 dollars. These consoles are built with top line specs because the makers know they can't be upgraded and they are sold at a loss. They expect to make that money back through software sales and online services. And were can you get 15 top demanding games for 100 dollars?? Even steam doesn't offer for that cheap. That being said, a gaming pc always offers a better experience. If you can afford it.

... without actually showing us the console LOL!

And no backwards compatibility with PS3, not even mentioning 2 or 1...

It's why I have an Xbox 360 instead.

Play Station 4 was power by AMD CPU and GPU. So I don't buy it. I'll wait and see how many buyers of PS 4 complain in first month. SONY problem is walking backward instead of forward. I'll continue play with PS3.

@darknuts Who in the world buys his games on steam unless its on a holiday sale? You obviously don't know how to get games for PC at cheaper cost.

@JohnMaster

5-15 high demand titles for less than $100? Please share.

I don't completely understand the fuss about not seeing the new "box."

You don't walk around town with the thing like a phone that you can show off to your friends. You consume the content and no necessarily the packaging. I rarely look at my PS3 except to hit the power button.

At least we got some idea of the things that really matter, some information on the hardware, the new controller, and the games coming. Basically, the things that matter.

Still, the packaging would make people identify with the product more than a mere name, PS4. So, it was somewhat of a mistake not to show the box, but at least Sony gave us an idea of what is coming and when.
