Sony has announced the development of a display module that transforms your eyewear into a wearable device.
The company also revealed that it will show the display module and its concept model - SmartEyeglass Attach! - at the 2015 International CES that will be held in Las Vegas in the U.S. beginning January 6.
By attaching the display module to your eyewear such as glasses, goggles, and sunglasses, and putting them on, you will get a sub-window displayed in front of you without blocking your sight.
The display module features Sony's original tiny 0.23-inch OEL display (640x400) that provides a 1000:1 contrast ratio. They also downsized a control board including several sensors, processors and a wireless communication function as powerful as those in smartphones, according to the company, and created a sophisticated device that weighs only 40g.
Sony is planning to begin commercial production of the module as well as providing the software kit to partner companies sometime in 2015.

I wonder if hackers might not like it and decide to threaten the company over the product, knowing that SONY caves to terrorist demands.

This sounds like a very good idea.

Useless and ugly, love also how probably you won't see anything thru tinted sunglasses. Why is not SONY making product consumers want instead ? Like for example a true , e-ink type color eReader. Not a single JP Tech inc can provide a consumer color eReader with eink, there is a market for that. Guess, like all other sexy things that came recently to consumers, it will probably come from a kickstarter project abroad.

Sony trying to share the pain? Anything I cast my eyeballs upon, North Korea gets a copy?

Makes more sense than Google glass. At least this gives an option to average user whether to make already owned eyewear tech device or not. Hate to say though, ANY eyewear tech device is still a waste of money.
