The service cannot yet be used on portable devices such as the Walkman or cell phones, though Sony says it plans to eventually add those.

HILARIOUS! So the service can't be used on portable devices yet, which is how most people WHO BUY MUSIC listen these days. What the hell happened to Sony? Not only are they and the rest of the entertainment industry in Japan 10 years behind the digital world and other developed countries when it comes to producing a product, but now they introduce a service that Hirai says "will EVENTUALLY add portable devices." HILARIOUS!

The service itself I simply can not understand. So I have to pay to access your catalog of music and when I end my subscription at some point I will no longer have access to the songs I like??? WTH? Get a clue Sony! If people want to sample before they buy they now have a legal way to check out music and that's by YouTube. Even iTunes samples are 90 seconds now. Almost half the song.

How much is the cost of renting music from Sony vs buying music from anywhere else? It's a great business model, though. If you want to keep your music you have to pay for it again and again and again ....

Sony owns music content and music players. They are doing this about 10 years too late.

Why is it these companies, and Sony in particular, always so late in doing this? Whatever happened to Sony's "answer to Apple's iPod"? I know ONE person who bought it, and they bought an iPhone when the latter came out. Too little, too late. It won't fly.
