I just asked my kids who have been saving to buy new PSP if this was good for them and the response was so complicated that this old man almost got lost.

It seems that no one actually wants this Sony Go seeing it has way to many draw backs like short battery life being the number one complaint and the control buttons are apparently not to many users liking as well it can't use the disk from the PSP meaning they need to buy all new games, which bring up the next bigger problem kids don't have credit cards so kids can't purchase the games that must be downloaded via the Internet.

They are disappointed that Sony is not lowering the price of the PSP 3000 now, they are waiting for the PSP 4000 to come out soon, when that does then the PSP 3000 price will drop.

It's interesting to note that the new official price of the Go is now the same as PSP 3000.

I can't help but wonder if this is another Sony pig headedness along the lines of Beta video, no one wants it but they are not going to admit that and just drop it and move on.

limboinjapan; This plan to go download only has bombed. Worldwide sales are dire. 2 Weeks ago i saw PSP Go's for 16,800 in a media chain store in Osaka. Downloading has many drawbacks, including not having a physical item, you cannot trade in and you cannot have special Ltd Editions that appeal to usually older collectors with more disposable income.

Download only? I'll pass

This is not due to Christmas shopping in Japan! If anything it is for all the kids spending their otoshidama (New Years money).

But kids are smart (as limboinjapan points out). They are not going to buy a failing SONY product.

Going to pass on the PSP.

My son is happy with bis Wii and NDS, I got a 320GB PS3 with the new PS3 Move system.

News from the cyber-monkeys (my kids) the chatter on the net is that Sony may just faze this "go" out seeing the only market seems to be as a media player and that is also losing to other more versatile things, PSP 4000 is coming out and that will have all the features of the "Go" except the compact size plus all those of the older PSP and a keyboard.

I've yet to see anyone with a Go, and I can't imagine it being very popular.

^ ^ that, right there. SONY is quite good at making products that no one wants, yet remaining in business for some reason.

Today the first photos came out of the Playstation phone made by ailing Sony ericcson. Basically a smartphone that co do about the same as the Go and have an Android apps store. It looks terrible from the photos i have seen. Another flop?
