Me Grandson Patrick wanted one of them PSP things. I bought him one called the PSP slim (half each with Rita). He wanted it so he could play his games on the box. Now after only a little while they release another one. Blimey, why can`t they get it right in the first place.

Parents and grandparents have to fork out enough, without these gadgets being out of date straight away.

Sony, please stop being greedy sods, and give people`s wallets a break, alright?

welcome to technology. if you buy something without expecting it to be out of date in 6 months you're fooling yourself. i don't see how they're hurting your wallet since you don't have to buy the new model, as the older one is still perfectly capable...

"The revamped PlayStation Portable with the improved liquid crystal display and a built-in microphone" improved liquid crystal display :- I dont find any display clarity problem with my current PSP slim. built-in microphone :- I can live even without an inbuilt mic.

So the arrival of PSP-3000 is not enough to make me worry abt my PSP-2000 slim.

Not even gonna bother with it. Old one works fine and you can mod it anyway. No point in getting a new one even if they are finally gonna make it compatible with the PS3. PS3 barely has any good games anyway and most of the games you can get on the 360. Too bad most Japanese people have not tried the 360, they might like it.

Rebranding it like an iphone

Hard to justify getting the XBox 360 over the PS3 if you can have both, if only because the PS3 is a fully functional Blu-Ray player at a killer price. Microsoft blew it by going with HD-DVD.

chardk1 - Not sure what relevance your comment has to the release of the new PSP?

I have the original PSP-1000 and am having a hard time finding batteries for it. Typical for SONY, PSP-2000 batteries say "For the PSP-2000 ONLY" on them. Is that true? I bet they'll do the same thing for the PSP-3000.

does the psp-3000 have bluetooth?

Sony also unveiled a service planned for later this year in Japan that will allow several PSP machines to play games together, even if they aren’t in the same room, by connecting to the Internet through PlayStation 3 machines. Layden said details will be released later.

Finally something official, I think most people have been relying on xlink kai or similar programs for a long time.

soldave- charkk1 was just responding to me to justify his purchase of a PS3.

chardk1- Understand your opinion and I have played all 3 systems. For me though there is nothing spectacular about blu-ray excepts its price. I do not care that I can see a strand of hair that is waving in the wind much clearer on a Blu-ray. Yeah, there is MG4 and some RPGs worth playing, but that is about it. It took the PS3 to get "homes" and then set up their trophy system just for other people to look at them.

Even with the PSP finally being able to hook up to the system, it will not change my mind. Just mod it with a Pandora's battery and you can DL just about whatever game you want...even from the DS to old school Nintendo.

bluray is a vast improvement. not just detail but colour and especially sound. of course you need a decent sized HDTV and sound system but play a BR next to a DVD you'll be impressed. as for ps3 games, MGS4, GTA4, COD4 are 3 of the best games on any system ever and more than justify getting a ps3.
