How boring... The Japanese market is sadly missing some enthusiast cars, something Japan used to excel at.
Nissan has the GTR but thats a halo car really.
Toyota/Subaru 86 did ok but needed about 50 more HP..
Subaru has continued the STi stuff of course but its a very love hate kind of car.
Personally a big Honda fan but sadly the Japanese market is an after thought as far as their new exciting model Civic Type R and NSX, was genuinely looking at buying a new car contribute to the economy and all that... but there is nothing in the line up that does anything for me. Closest is the old domestic market Civic Type R.
Don't think this means Im interested in only petrol "gas guzzlers", hybrid and electric doesn't have to be boring.

I agree with boring... Every time I see "hybrid" plastered on some carbon copy econo-box I want to upchuck on it. It seems that every manufacturer thinks that this is the answer to selling a model that otherwise no one would look twice at. Toyota finally got off the "understated classic" look, but unfortunately they went to a design that looks like a storm trooper helmet on wheels. The Japanese build some of the best cars in the world, time to pump a little pizzaz into them.

This speaks to a domestic industry largely stuck in the twentieth century.
Premium brands appeal to the aspirational driver looking for an emotional, experiential drive. The rest of the market wants something that frees up our time and energy.
Imagine if you could clear your inbox during your commute, or spend quality face-to-face time with your kids on the school run.
Or just enjoy the Lady Penelope experience with a 10cm Kiribo as your very own Parker. Bring it on, Toyota!

Could've nicer they really just do it for sale and not just for a show case each years since I have memory they showed futuristic cars but always they release the same model with different paint or extra seat nothing especial....kinda bored till today we can't get this amazing cars in our roads!

The Tokyo Motor Show used to be a fun event with supercars, luxury cars, etc. you could drool over. Now organizers fall over themselves to see how each successive year can be even more boring.
