I don't get why some companies build some plants in the US rather than in their own countries. Also Italian Fiat prefers the US over Italy, like if the labor cost was that cheaper there than in Italy. I can understand the logic about China, but the US?

Two reasons are that the US is one of the largest markets and also savings on currency conversions (same as for Japanese autos). As for labor, tech production isn't labor intensive.

Whatever the reason is, the result is that the US are seen like China: a place where our companies go, letting our workers without job.

Chief Executive Hisao Tanaka clearly enjoys a good game of corporate poker. Lower corporate tax or else. Shallow of him for his timing, cowardly in weasel public briefing. But effective in focusing on the need for reforming the employment sector and tax system.

Regarding car manufacturing; transport costs are an important factor as well. Producing close to your market saves a lot of transport costs.

About flash memory chip, in USA, about eveyone has one or more laptops beside iphones and ipads. So, flash drive comes handy. Just plug in right side of yoyr laotops. The memory capacities are mega giga bytes to tera bytes. Just save any softwares' .exe files all of them. So, demanding that Toshba will make its one of factories in USA. Hust deman and supply business.
