    I just did a search and found the Brazil adopted the Japanese digital TV standard on Sept 15th 2009.......wonder if it's too late to change their minds?

    Japan is going quite well with regard the adoption of Japanese Digital TV standards in South America. Indeed, they are close to sewing up the continent.

    The issue of who controls standards (in this case digital TV) is important in that it allows for the control of technology development paths.
