I was just thinking about this. If the Android came to Japan I wonder how it'd be received. Who'd be the carrier? There's still a strong, loyal iPhone fanbase so it'd be an uphill battle for the Droid for sure.

Android already here. DoComo, Au, and Softbank have it. I'm just waiting until DoCoMo gets a phone with Android 2.1 or higher.

Takuma7, Docomo will have the Samsung Galaxy S, running Android, most likely in August. It's not mentioned in their summer catalogue but Samsung is fairly keen to flood the carriers with this phone. It's a beauty, too (and looks suspiciously like the iphone)

@caffeinebuzz do you know if it well be running Android 2.1 OS or higher?

@Takuma7 you're talking about Mobile OS Android not the actual phone created by Motorola, right? Or you're already talking about Motorola's Droid smart phone series? I'm asking about the Motorola's Droid X, will this be offered by all the Carriers like Docomo, AU and Softbank. I hope this mobile phone is available to all carriers...Then if you're talking about Motorola's Droid smart phones series, I'll be glad and will be waiting for this Droid X...:)

I haven't heard of any Motorola's coming to Japan yet.

The iPhone rules over Android phones. The iPhone is made for everyone in mind. Apple constantly improved on their iPhones. The Android or Droid is a slap stick phone that is put together in a hurry without much thought if the feature will be popular with the users or not.

Verizon added that the Droid will be the first of its smart phones to come with an application from movie chain Blockbuster Inc that lets users rent or purchase movies on their phones. Movies will cost $4 to rent and start at $10 and up to buy, Verizon said.

Wonder if in the next few weeks will Verizon have tiered data plans which will moot this idea.
