I just tried wiki, and just a few seconds after opening the site, the page changed which had the "Imagine a World Without Free Knowledge" message, no search box.

They make a good point. Nice protest. So today I won't be able to fulfill my desire to learn about the god Mitra.

I usually websurf with NoScript, and I didn't notice any change. Then I read the Wikipedia SOPA Blackout FAQ, and sure enough, they say all you have to do is disable JavaScript.

It's funny how all the college students are worried about being inconvenienced because it will affect their research for their papers. What ever happened to the good old method called "using the library"?

This is a serious issue! Go to Google and sign the petition.

The library has no paper volumes any more. Where do you live?

I'm all about protecting intellectual property, but these laws are positively draconian. I think this outcry (and it has become very widespread) will actually work. I don't think these laws will pass in their current form.

If Obama stays elected.. can't he just veto it if it passes in the house? The president has to sign these acts into laws, correct??

He's already put a hold on this, but it doesn't stop it from popping up again later.

No wonder that those companies protest SOPA is because they are not mainly contents providers. Im not that supporter of SOPA, but I think those companies have robed chances from contents providers who deserve to have more money. there are something should be changed in the internet law for fair business.

Piracy, like terrorism, is another in the long line of excuses for herding the masses and protecting out-of-touch billionaires. What a step backwards if this goes through. There are other ways to combat stealing.

Uh, it was using a simple redirect, hardly ""blacked out"! All you had to do was hit the ESC key as soon as the first page loaded to keep it from redirecting...After that, searching worked fine.

Simple HTML folks, try learning a little...!

Wire.com have the best blackout. There's no blackout on Yahoo. Wikipedia blackout is very cool. Google's blackout is okay.

You must have a lot of faith in Obama to think he will veto it. Obama signed the National Defense Authorization Act after the fact... His VP Joes Biden was the one who wanted to take down pirated sites and piracy.

Vice President Joe Biden Calls Piracy 'Outright Theft' http://www.billboard.biz/bbbiz/industry/legal-and-management/vice-president-joe-biden-calls-piracy-outright-1005136622.story

Biden to file sharers: 'Piracy is theft' http://news.cnet.com/8301-31001_3-20008432-261.html

Vice President Joe Biden today convened a group of prominent industry leaders to discuss policy responses to the problem of piracy, including software copyright infringement. The group included representation from the Business Software Alliance (BSA). http://www.bsa.org/country/News%20and%20Events/News%20Archives/en/2011/en-01282011-biden.aspx

Due to Presidential election year Obama and Biden are now saying the opposite. Will someone make up their mind.

News Corp chief executive Rupert Murdoch, meanwhile, accused the “blogosphere” of “terrorizing many senators and congressmen who previously committed” to support the U.S. legislation.

Murdoch is jealous of other people getting in on his game.
