"That is why the scientists are carefully learning how to run it and make sure all protection systems are working" Some guys claimed the LHC would create mini-black hole that we finally be power full enough to swallow the earth. This theory has been ridiculed.

Stop this crazy experiment at once you crazy scientists.

franz75 is wrong, a black hole could be made and all creation could be destroyed. why do bad men have to tamper with our fragile world?

arrest them just like what they have done to Galileo!

    Black holes are cool.

Ha.. They will have this fully functioning by 2012;-) They are just studying the first trillionth of a second of the beginnings of the Universe. That is all. Might bring a new Universe into existance;-) Just incredible that we are able to do this or even to know about the first trillionth of a second of the beginning of the universe. Pretty fine measurement.

All black holes are tiny but massive.

So what if it makes a black hole that swallows the earth. I don't think anyone will complain...

It wasn't ridiculed - just judged not to be realistic after a more careful look. The main point of the refutations, as far as I have understood, is that while the energy of particles in the collider is great it it is not uniquely so in the known universe. So if "natural" processes have not yet destroyed Earth or the celestial bodies we can observe, LHC will not be able to do that either.

RIPFT: the mini black hole won't be strong enough to anything other than vanishing as quick as the appeared (what I have read). The people who tried to put a halt on the LHC are not from the field (nor do I).

Man I always wondered about that first trillionth of a second when the universe was created. Now I will have my answers.
