problem #1 Aussie dollar costs more than 100yen right now. problem #2 flights for $150 have a tax & fuel surcharge of around $300 on them. Problem #3 there 'where the bloody hell are you' girl wasn't hot enough. And he bikini top was saggy. Could never understand that part.
1 and #2 are really key I think. Just on the currency alone, the US dollar is much cheaper for Japanese than the A$.
As for flights, the Japan-Sydney flight is basically a monopoly, as JAL and QANTAS code share it and therefore there is basically no competition, which also means the flight to Aus is much more expensive than flights to the US.
What a surprise Japanese are turning away from Australia as a tourist destination. /sarcasm
Although having said that...I have managed to book return flights Syd-Osaka direct for Nov/Dec which came all up to AU$500 (JPY 5 man) including all taxes, surcharges and meals (jetstar charges you for those). But lots of ppl can't choose their flights times around sales.
Haha... haven't been without toilet paper on a flight yet, and I have pre-purchased my entertainment headphones for $10 already. Good to go! If it means I can get to Japan & back for 5man, doesn't worry me

And referring to problem number two, the flights from Japan to Australia are more expensive than flights from the USA to Australia. Hmm...

Jetstar, huh? Don't forgot to bring Australian currency for the coin-operated toilets, and be sure to pack your own 'bathroom tissue.'

I've never been but I'd love to go. An Australian friend sent me a book of Australian photographs, and the scenery was amazing.

I got a Jpn-Syd ticket on frequent flyer miles, but I got hit for 50,000 yen for fuel and tax, what a rip-off.
