Charter operators can fly tourists round trip between Frankfurt and Bangkok for the equivalent of US $300 and make a profit. If airlines need business and first class to make money, perhaps they should concentrate more on raising their load factor. That said, every transpacific flight I've taken over the past 3 years was filled to the gills, and these were during non-holiday (off-peak) periods. And the outrageous fuel surcharges they tacked on last year didn't seem to drive away customers either.

Only 10000 737s/A320s built since 1960s,with fewer flights, airlines will reduce units used to cut costs.
These 10,000 built units only cost 1000 billion USD for boeing/airbus/GE/RR/PW to build.
New built units also will get less, less noise pollution in the skies from jet engines.

i remember back in the day when you could buy a coach ticket and then sleep straight on 4 empty seats in the back. I havent seen that in more than 10 years.
Now every flight is completely full, and the space between seats is getting smaller and smaller. More flights are getting routed through Narita too. The other day i needed to borrow someones cell phone to make a local call, and everyone around me only spoke Vietnamese...
