Hope the airline will NOT include Virgin, because they suck big time! My worst flight ever from London to Tokyo was with... VIRGIN. Poor service! Food took ages to arrive... This was in Economy, business may be a different story. I'm always surprised people think they are good? Just because they serve you an icecream and give you an eyeshade?
Hoo bloody rah! At last, we don't have to go all the way to Narita to fly home.
Couldn't agree more. I need 2,5 hours (if there is no traffic jam) to arrive to Narita from my house.
I hope the company is BA because they have much more connections to Europe than Virgin, so many travellers could benefit from this, not only the ones finishing their trip in London.
I would not fly neither ANA nor JAL on such long flights if I had another choice.
They keep the heater on too high, yet the Japanese will be wearing their woolen coats and shirts, and on top of that use a blanket.
I call ANA IguANA Airlines, and JAL GAL for Galapagos Island where the turtles are always sunbathing. Comoro Island is also fit for both of them too.
All you bloody Tokyoites complaining about Narita!
Spare a thought for the rest of us who live in the REAL Japan - ie, NOT Tokyo!!
Having to fly first to Tokyo to get a flight direct to London, is bloody stupid! What's wrong with Fukuoka, Hiroshima or Osaka like it used to be?
Did they specify the time it was due to arrive? Did they sound a dinner gong?
TIP: if you're an impatient whinger, try odering a 'special meal' (eg vegetarian.) Not only will the food be prepared individually, it'll arrive a long time before anyone else's.
Never had a problem with Virgin, excellent service, great entertainment system, friendly chatty staff, and constant access to a well-stocked galley.
Everyone has had at least one bad flight but over the course of 15 years flying 2 to 3 times a year in my opinion Virgin beats BA by a country mile. I'm yet to meet a frequent flyer who thinks any different.
No London flights to Osaka? You've got to be joking, right?
Another reason why I travel with Virgin is that, as long as I gain or use points once in 3 years, my airmiles do not expire. I have two other cards (including ANA), but they all expire after 3 years. The only problem I have with Virgin is that they try too hard to be cool.
Now, one big problem I now have with Virgin is why fuel surcharge just went down to 96 pounds (one sector) for flights starting in UK, while we living in Japan have just seen out surcharge go UP to 24,360 yen!!! This makes it 48,720 yen for a return flight and it is ridiculous. They said they couldn't comment (read: fob me off) as they have an agreement with the travel agencies. But I wrote back saying that the agencies (HIS) quote prices from Virgin's homepage. I have yet to receive a reply. I don't know whether fuel surcharges for Japanese residents have gone up for other airlines, but this does not make sense.

Always had good flights with Virgin and ANA, and dismal ones with JAL and BA so far.

Done this many, many times. VA is easily the best of the 4. Good news if they lower the fuel charge and make it affordable.

Welcome news for me. I don't really mind whose metal I fly. I wonder what the departure and arrival times will be. Any ideas?
