Shangri-La Hotel, Tokyo taking reservations for 'Heavenly Weddings'

TOKYO —

Shangri-La Hotel, Tokyo, is now taking reservations for “Heavenly Weddings at Shangri-La,” the hotel’s exclusive, made-to-order wedding service. “Heavenly Weddings at Shangri-La” ceremonies are scheduled to commence when Shangri-La opens on March 2, 2009, providing the ultimate “heavenly” experience in every aspect of the services celebrating one of life’s major events.

Located on Level 27 of the hotel, the highest level at which weddings with a view are hosted at luxury hotels in the city, the hotel’s wedding facilities include The Pavilion, a nondenominational chapel overlooking the city, as well as the Shangri-La Ballroom designed for large reception parties of up to 180 guests. A grand staircase, chandeliers and bold carpets will provide excellent photographic opportunities.

“Heavenly Weddings at Shangri-La” will incorporate Western and Japanese dresses and beauty services including hair and makeup and beauty salon treatments by Hatsuko Endo, one of Japan’s leading wedding service providers, and flower arrangement by Nicolai Bergmann, one of the most recognizable foreign artists in Japan, famous for contemporary floral design.

Shangri-La Hotel, Tokyo has selected Junko Yoshioka, the world-renowned, New York-based designer, as the provider of its signature wedding dresses, which will be made exclusively available by Hatsuko Endo in Tokyo at the hotel. The exquisite bridal collections of Junko Yoshioka fuse innovative contemporary design with timeless elegance of haute couture. Her signature style encompasses sweeping silhouettes, asymmetrical cuts and unique hand-crafted details.

The hotel’s experienced wedding concierge will work closely with couples to create a unique wedding program suited to every individual couple. Multiple wedding ceremonies and parties will not take place simultaneously, and wedding facilities are all located on the same floor, ensuring the privacy and comfort of each couple, their families and guests.

Shangri-La Hotel, Tokyo will be the group’s first property in Japan. The 202-room hotel will occupy the top 11 floors of the Marunouchi Trust Tower Main building, adjacent to Tokyo Station, providing unparalleled convenience for couples, families and guests traveling from other parts of Japan or overseas.

And the price? 30,000,000yen but you only marry once right? Errr what? At least it's a good view on Level 27.

The reality is that cityscape views in Tokyo are really only nice at night-time - when, in my view, they are spectacular.

Having a day-time wedding looking out at gray, old, nasty Tokyo just ain't that cool. So many nicer gardens and areas to get married at in Tokyo.

How much will they charge for choosing a priest from the English conversation school next door?
