Thai Airways International revises checked baggage policy for flights to U.S., Canada
Thai Airways International has revised its checked baggage policy for flights to and from U.S. and Canada. Starting from Dec 1, the free baggage allowance for passengers traveling with THAI will be as follows:
Royal First Class and Royal Silk Class passengers receive a free baggage allowance of two pieces. The weight of each piece should not exceed 32 kgs and linear measurement (length+width+height) should not exceed 158 cms.
Passengers traveling in economy class are given a free baggage allowance of two pieces. The weight of each item should not exceed 23 kgs and linear measurement of each piece not more than 158 linear cms.
The charge for extra baggage exceeding the above allowance will be charged at $119 per piece effective from Jan 1.
Royal Orchid Plus Gold Card members will enjoy the privilege of one extra baggage on top of the regular allowance in any class of travel.

I don't know whether other airlines have special rules for flights to/from the US and Canada, but the usual weight limits on international flights are considerably lower than what is stated in the article. E.g. which other airline does allow 46kg of baggage in economy class as a standard?

As Kokuryu points out, Thailand is a big mess now, and even with Thai Airways giving away tickets, I would not want to go there, with a near coup de ta? Protestors storming the international Bankok airport? No thanks! They need to fix their political situation before they can even think of me going there anytime soon.

Don't talk to me about the Thai situation. Every day we're getting dozens of calls from people stuck in Thailand because of this mess. People aren't going anywhere until Dec 8th at the earliest, according to what we're hearing from people on the ground.
