TOKYO —
The Peninsula Tokyo will become a shining pink landmark on Oct 1 in support of Estee Lauder Group of Companies’ Pink Ribbon Breast Cancer Awareness Campaign. The hotel, standing 100 meters and 24 stories tall, will illuminate its sweeping main entrance fountain, exterior and crown pink for the month of October, and also offer a range of pink-themed promotions in each restaurant, with a portion of proceeds going to Estēe Lauder Group of Companies Japan’s local breast cancer charities.
The Estēe Lauder Group of Companies established the Global Landmark Illumination Campaign as part of its breast cancer awareness efforts in 2000. This year, The Peninsula Tokyo becomes only the second officially recognized Japan landmark to be illuminated pink, with Tokyo Tower the first in 2000.
Since opening on Sept 1, 2007 The Peninsula Tokyo has supported children’s education and health and raising funds for Make-A-Wish Foundation Japan through The Peninsula Hotels’ annual Trees of Hope charity. As part of its annual medical check-up program, The Peninsula Tokyo provides mammograms for female employees from the age of 30.
Following the hotel illumination ceremony, the hotel will host “The Pretty in Pink Bash” at Peter, located on the 24th floor of the hote. With the support of Japanese celebrities, media and leading industry executives, “The Pretty in Pink Bash” will raise breast cancer funds through a lucky-draw raffle.
The Peninsula will also offer pink-themed promotions throughout its restaurants with a percentage of sales being donated to Estēe Lauder Group of Companies Japan’s local breast cancer charities.

A long, hard pink building isn't normally something I'd normally associate with breast cancer.
