ANA gets new lounges at Fukuoka and Sapporo

TOKYO —

Improved ANA lounges at Fukuoka and Sapporo Chitose airports will open their doors to ANA frequent flyers and Premium Class domestic customers on April 1, offering them an elegantly understated space that reflects the latest in Japanese design, in which to rest or work before their flight.

The made-over ANA Lounges will be located conveniently next to a new dedicated security lane in each airport, meaning that ANA frequent flyers and premium customers using ANA’s innovative SKiP service can proceed to directly to their own security lane – bypassing check-in – and be in the lounge within moments of their arrival at the airport.

In Fukuoka the facility comes in addition to the lounge in the newly opened Terminal 3, and will occupy the site of the previous ANA Lounge in Terminal 2.  With a combined total of 184 seats (102 in Terminal 2, 82 in Terminal 3), they will offer nearly 50% more seats than previously available. In Sapporo, the existing ANA lounge has been remodeled to better please ANA premium and frequent travelers and will offer 100 as opposed to 81 seats.

Premium Class passengers have been invited to use the ANA Lounges at Tokyo Haneda and Osaka Itami airports since April 1, 2008.  Thanks to this expansion, around 60% of all customers flying in Premium Class will now be able to enjoy the lounges prior to catching their flights.

I wonder how much they cost? As most people turn up just before the flight, expensive lounges are quite unnecessary. The pork-barrel at its finest.....

Uhh... Terminal 3 is not new. It's been there for years.

60% of all customers flying in Premium Class will now be able to enjoy the lounges prior to catching their flights. And the other 40% are SOL.

All this means is that people riding in comfort on the plane can be well rested for their 45 minute flight.
