British Airways launches online winter fare
TOKYO —
British Airways on Wednesday began selling special return airfares to London and 51 other cities across Europe for only 55,000 yen (excluding fuel surcharges). This special online fare is available for purchase on ba.com, and is available on flights between Nov 10 and March 31, 2009 in World Traveller. There are no blackout dates so travelers can easily find a flight that fits their schedule.
No additional fare is required for onward travel to European cities, including popular destinations such as Rome, Milan, Paris and Amsterdam. To celebrate its lowest ever online fare, BA said that complimentary Tower of London tickets will be awarded to the first 100 people who purchase this special online fare.
Julianne Rogers, British Airways manager for Japan and Korea, said, “ba.com is now the key interface between British Airways and our customers, and this special fare reflects the value of online booking. It is a pleasure to award complimentary Tower of London tickets to the first 100 people to book this fare on ba.com”
ba.com is also a popular option for those wishing to avoid long waits and queues at travel agents in the busy winter vacation booking period. The innovative website is easy to navigate, offering convenient features such as the “Manage My Booking” option, which allows customers the choice of among others, online check-in, meal requests, advance seat reservation and additional holiday planning tools. ba.com is available in 11 different languages.

Bigtime Charlie, you are so wrong. Did you even check the website? Our good friends at BA may have made a mistake (or is it JT?). The online price is actuall JPY66,000 return to europe, and adding charges makes it JPY130,000 just to get to the UK. Adding a "free" European city like Paris adds 7,000 yen to the equation.
If this was an advert, it would be illegal in the UK. I'm really disappointed in BA for this.

They should legally include always the fuel surcharge when saying the price. Not doing so is already illegal in many countries because it is misleading for the customer.

I checked these fares out a while back and the fuel surcharge and whatever else they choose to make you pay is crazy. They should advertise that in the prices.

It is a lot cheaper at the moment with some of the other European airlines and also a lot cheaper to fly in the opposite direction. This is just a stunt to rip of a few unwary Japanese.

On BA.com a return flight from London to Tokyo leaving on 2nd February and returning on 16th February costs GPB 558.50 (Y90000) (including fees).
On the Japanese BA web site flights on the same dates, but going in the other direction cost a whopping Y151460. That's Y60000, or 68% more than the UK price.
Don't fly with these thieves.

British Airways are ripoff merchants! I received an email from them ages ago announcing these "wonderful fares." I immediately went online to try to book one, and the final cost came up as 257,000 yen! Cheap fares my a$$. They are among the worst offenders, overcharging for fuel. I wont be flying with this company ever again. I already booked a flight with JAL - much cheaper.

BA is the last airline in the universe I would ever fly with. And as everybody is saying, why the hell is it not a legal requirement to include all the rip-off "extras" in the quoted price???????????? BA must think we all stupid...
