Hong Kong International Airport has launched a special Christmas and New Year promotion for shoppers. Under the promotion, which runs until Jan 6, 2009 at all retail, entertainment and dining outlets in Terminal 1 and Terminal 2, shoppers and diners will be eligible to win a range of over 50 special gifts which is worth more than HK$1 million (over U.S.$128, 200).
For every HK$300, HK$500 or HK$2,000 spent at any shops or restaurants in HKIA, shoppers and diners will be rewarded with gift redemption cards. Upon presentation of these cards at a number of redemption booths at T1 and T2, shoppers may then receive their desired gift and food/beverage items from a wide selection of airport retail, dining and entertainment outlets.
“HKIA is committed to making every shopping, dining and entertainment experience outstanding for our local and international visitors,” said Eva Tsang, general manager, Retail and Advertising, Airport Authority Hong Kong. “Christmas and New Year has always been a time of giving. Through our promotion and celebration activities this holiday season, we hope visitors would enjoy even more of their visit to our 260 specialty shops, 65 worldwide restaurants and 4 entertainment zones.”

Good idea for HK trying to make some money. I was there and ripped me off. But now that Thai is in trouble and on the top all that world economy was nearly washed away do not expect a miracle from 'Christmas shopping,' tourism is down and it will be going more down the ladder. HK is not cheap anymore since was handed over to China, I can buy the same goods in my country for half of the price. 'DREAMS, DREAMS AND DREAMS.'
