JAL to fly to 6 int'l destinations from Haneda
TOKYO —
The JAL Group on Wednesday unveiled the schedule of its international flights at Haneda Airport from which it will inaugurate 7 daily flights to 6 international destinations - Paris, San Francisco, Honolulu, Bangkok, Taipei’s Songshan airport and Singapore, from Oct 31.
At present, JAL flies 5 times daily to 4 short-haul Asian cities from Haneda, namely Seoul (Gimpo), Shanghai (Hongqiao), Beijing and Hong Kong. Counting the new international routes and an increase in one daily flight to Gimpo this autumn, JAL will be operating a total of 10 international routes with 13 daily flights.
“Haneda Airport is conveniently located in the heart of Tokyo and will be opened round-the-clock, greatly enhancing the convenience of travelers,” said JAL President and Chief Operating Officer Masaru Onishi. “Furthermore, with JAL’s extensive domestic operations at the hub, passengers can make smooth connections from our new international flights to many other destinations in Japan. We intend to fully utilize Haneda’s strategic advantages for operations to Europe, America and Asia as we constantly seek to improve the traveling experience of our customers.”

Sadly my usual destinations in Europe are not covered, but a good first step to improve travelling experience.

How original. . . excluding Paris, the routes are basically identical to ANA (except ANA is to SF, JAL to LA).

ratbert: ANA will also fly to LA, not SF, i.e. exactly the same routes as JAL and the fares will no doubt also be exactly the same.
I thought JAL were reducing their international flights, but it seems not.
Haneda airport may well be open 24 hours a day, but it's not exactly "convenient" if there are no trains running when you arrive.

Scrote: I meant ANA to LA while JAL to SF (so no overlap). . . my bad! If you check their sites most flights leave around midnight while arrivals are early morning.
So I guess take the last train to Haneda & the first train from!

@Scrote: JAL is certainly reducing international flights. This spring they cut Mexico City and by the end of October will cut all routes to Sao Paulo, Amsterdam, Milan, Rome, Brisbane, Denpasar (Bali) and Kona (Hawaii).

I thought JAL was bankrupt. Gee, sounds like all is forgotten. Lucky them.
