The vintage 1933 Kamikochi Imperial Hotel, a 75-room mountain lodge operated by Tokyo’s Imperial Hotel in the Japan Alps’ majestic Chubu Sangaku National Park, celebrates its 75th anniversary this year and is welcoming guests through Nov 7.
The red-roofed lodge features high ceilings, wood paneling, monumental fireplaces, verandahs and a classic old world dining room and bar. The setting boasts crystal-clear rivers and a pond-dotted landscape with panoramic views of the nearby forests and mountain peaks.
Double-bed rooms are from 28,350 yen per night; twin-bed rooms go from 29,400 yen per night; double and twins with private verandahs cost 40,950 yen; family suites are 68,250 yen; and the top luxury suite is 99,750 yen per night.
Adding to the luxury, the Imperial’s Grand Chef Kenichiro Tanaka is offering an elegant French dinner for 30,000 yen per person, using gourmet ingredients from the region, on May 29 and May 30.
