Paris hotels allow guests to 'pay what they want'

I hope this works because Paris is a horrendously expensive place to visit and stay. I probably would have spent more time in Paris if it did not come over as a city just trying to bleed your wallet dry. Be good if they could also clamp down on the Iranian guys trying to tie friendship bracelets on you and then charging - or trying in my case - for them.

Paris is a great place and I usually stay around Gare du Nord to be close to the Eurostar services. That area is quite dodgy though, with lots of Romanians (I think?) trying their hands to pickpocket you, and especially the elderly tourists (my parents were nearly victims). I noticed one of the hotels on this scheme is around Gare du Nord, I would've loved to try it but the dates don't suit me unfortunately...
