Park Hotel Group opens sales office in Tokyo
TOKYO —
Fresh from its first acquisition in Japan a month ago, Singapore-based hospitality chain Park Hotel Group has set up its first regional sales office in Tokyo as it looks for more opportunities to expand in Japan.
The fast-growing hospitality brand made its first foray into the Japanese hotel market in December 2008 with the acquisition of the Hilton Otaru in Hokkaido, which has been rebranded as Grand Park Otaru.
The 296-room hotel brings the number of properties under the group to a total of eight, including three in Singapore, three in China and one in Hong Kong.
Within Japan, Park Hotel Group is looking to expand into key cities such as Tokyo, Osaka and Okinawa.
The Tokyo sales office will promote Grand Park Otaru in the local domestic market and generate outbound business to the rest of the hotels within the group. It will be managed by two sales managers covering west and east Japan.
The Tokyo office is a prelude to a network of regional sales offices to be operational from Feb 1 in Shanghai, Beijing and Guangzhou to cover China as well as one in Singapore to cover Southeast Asia and India.
Park Hotel Group’s current stable of eight properties has more than 2,500 rooms under two brand tiers – the five-star Grand Park and the four-star Park Hotel.
Park Hotel Group has plans to acquire 10 more hotels in the next few years, mainly in the Asia-Pacific region.

More singapore tourism industry connections via hotel business ,can help boost tourism to double digits levels for japan.

Singapore tourists are known as "Nightingales" around the Asian region - they are notorious for flying around going, "cheap, cheap, cheap." They spend very little, buy very little, so are not a great benefit to the host country.

No benefit for host country, the more international tourist there are the better. More money only only does not make a country, better.
There are many things we can learn from all international travellers whether small spender or big spender. Definitely will make japan more internationally friendly,if there are many people not from japan in japan. The atmosphere of japan, will change if there are more people from all over world.
This may be one of reason japan only gets 8 million travellers only a year. There should more change of mindsets,to attract more travellers.
Matsushita sold TVs more expensive in japan,to make it sell cheaper outside japan, why? They want to sell the name of japan made brand(matsushita) as quality via more sales. Quality of values, sell even in tourism. Japan have made itself expensive for others, not others do not want to spend.
