Qantas, JAL to codeshare flights between Japan and Australia via Singapore
TOKYO —
From June 1, Japan Airlines will offer travelers new codeshare flights with fellow oneworld member Qantas, connecting Japan, via Singapore, to 3 destinations in Australia, namely Adelaide, Melbourne and Perth.
JAL and QF first started offering codeshare flights in April 1986. At present, JALways, a 100%-owned subsidiary of the JAL Group, provides one daily flight between Tokyo (Narita) and Sydney, as well as Brisbane.
In addition to that, JAL has codeshare flights with Jetstar Airways which offer passengers a daily service on the Tokyo (Narita)-Cairns and Osaka (Kansai)-Gold Coast routes, and also for 5 days a week, service on the Gold Coast-Sydney route.
Operating two daily flights connecting Tokyo (Narita) and Singapore, JAL will extend its reach from the current 4, to 7 destinations in Australia by means of the new codeshare flights operated by QF, which flies from Singapore to Melbourne and Perth on a daily basis, and thrice a week to Adelaide.

There's already next to no competition on this route since ANA pulled out years ago and JAL joined One-World; this just makes the route even more anti-competitive.

What a disaster that will end up. You end up buying an expensive ticket for a nice ride and end up in a code share on a QF which then code share Jetstar. Code share has become the biggest scam of the airline industry. Maybe one world is crap too.
