The special “Romance” package, available on Feb 13-14 for Valentine’s Day, and then again on March 13-14, for White Day, includes overnight accommodations in a Deluxe Room for two, a bath ritual in-room, two chocolate martinis in the Lobby Bar, and breakfast for two in Forty Five Restaurant.
The package price is 60,000 yen (excludes taxes and service charge) for Saturday night stays, and 45,000 yen (excludes taxes and service charge) for Sunday night stays. Upgrade your stay to the Club Floor and enjoy additional benefits during these special occasion weekends including a special chocolate fondue fountain in the evening, afternoon tea time accompanied by a selection of white and dark chocolates and a fruit selection, and a flower bouquet welcome amenity. Club supplement is an additional 10,000 yen per double occupancy.

I do too. The Ritz is smart. They know who their clientele is. I've wandered through the lobby a few times in the afternoons and on weekends and the coffee lounge is always full of wealthy-looking women enjoying afternoon tea.
There is a whole class of super-rich Japanese who are immune to the recession and they are the ones who patronize the 5-star hotels to enjoy dining, the spa treatments, etc. Just wish I was one of them.

I fail to see the justification for cost. Are they getting bath water from another planet? Besides I can get more than two chocolate martinis for that price.
To feel ritch the last thing I need is a high end hotel stay. I just need to turn on CNN and look at the news from places like Iraq or Afghanistan.
This hotel deal is just another of those things like having a channel bag.

Valentine's Day in Japan is great for men. Women buy the chocolates for the men. Something we should teach our women to do in the States. Japan is truly a man's country on the surface, if nothing else. I doubt the women would pay for the room rates at the Ritz-Carlton. On second thought, if the women were the wives, they would since wives control the purse strings in Japan. Poor guys..we won't teach our women that.
