This is a very sad story.

Passenger traffic between U.S.-Japan will probably decline over the near-term as these flight plan changes by the airlines suggest. Expansion plans will eventuallly take place in due course.

Hopefully ticket prices will begin to come down in the next week or so as well in response to this "measurable decline" in air traffic from the U.S. to Japan.

But business firms have no reasons to boost sales revenues, even discount tickets will not attract passengers.

Sharply bringing down rates to seasonal levels may very well boost numbers. Just because intending visitors aren't paying like it is June or July doesn't imply desire or understanding that the vast majority of the country is functioning smoothly.
