Thai Airways increases baggage allowance in all classes

Thai Airways International has increased its baggage allowances for all classes of travel.

Passengers are now allowed to check-in an additional 10 kilograms of baggage no matter which class of travel they are flying in.

The increase in baggage allowance applies to all Thai Airways flights, except those to and from the United States of America.

Royal First Class passengers can now check-in 50 kilograms of baggage, Royal Silk Class passengers 40 kilograms while Economy Class passengers can now check-in 30 kilograms.

Royal Orchid Plus members are also entitled additional baggage allowance based on their respective member status.

I wonder why that is...

It is interesting that while many other airlines especially in the American zone charge for the second baggage, this Asian airline has thought it fit to offer additional baggage allowance! Serrano wonders why the allowance does not apply to USA, the reason is almost all airlines flying to USA offer two pieces of baggage each weighing not more than 23 Kgs. for economy class and proportionately higher allowance for other classes!

Refreshing to see an airline adding something positive to the flying experience. Most of the time we only hear of increased taxes, fuel surcharges, baggage costs, narrower seats and less food and drink.

Good for Thai - smooth as silk!

I travel to Thailand with a single carry on bag weighing 7 kil. could never figure out why people need 2 massive suitcases or even trunks! to sit on the beach, visit temples or get drunk in a Bangkok bar.

I always see Japanese and other Asians laden with huge luggage, and their average stay is 4 days! (usually 3 weeks for me).

Golfers and divers sure, but were not talking suitcases in those cases.
