Tokyo Disneyland Hotel offers girls chance to be 'princess'

Tokyo Disney Resort is offering girls the chance to become the princess of their choice at its new hotel. Tokyo Disneyland Hotel houses the “Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique” which can turn girls aged three to nine into Cinderella, Snow White or other screen princess.
The full service, including costumes, shoes, make-up, hair-styling, manicure and professional photography costs 25,000 yen.
The hotel’s cheapest room is 31,000 yen during the off-season in January and February, while the top-floor premiere suite is priced at 500,000 yen a night.
The nine-story venture is the third official hotel in the sprawling compound in the suburbs of the Japanese capital.
Oriental Land Co, which operates the Disney resort in Japan, invested a total of 44 billion yen to open the hotel, according to a company spokeswoman.
Tokyo Disney Resort is undergoing a major expansion this year, the 25th anniversary of its opening as the first Disneyland outside the United States, with a permanent Cirque du Soleil opening in October.
Unlike some other Disney parks overseas, Tokyo Disney Resort has been consistently successful, with trips to the complex almost a rite of passage for Japanese children.

If they really want to make some money, they should open the service to all age ranges. I do suppose it'd be a complete success.

Like was said "Another sucker born every minute".
Said that I know many non-japanese that act just as bad and are willing to shell out major bucks to the big-ear mouse empire.
Hope that they upgrade and fix some of the rides at Tokyo Disney-world, some have had major shut-downs recently.
Myself only going there when my son whines too much about not going there. Wish I could pay someone to take him.

Overstretching their good fortune. This hotel will end up just like the other luxury hotels built up during the bubble era, the most famous example maybe being the Hotel Kawakyuu in Shirahama, Wakayama, which hosted the Emperor!

A three year old girl being made into a princess? This is vanity of the worst kind. As if women in this country weren't arrogant enough to begin with, why not start them off before their even in primary school!

I think all little girls are fed the princess thing from media and their peers. I'm not a big fan, I always complain that boys' toys teach them to be builders or engineers while girls' toys teach them to be a princess or ballerina. Anyone want to wager on which sectors offer more jobs when they grow up? Anyway, the way prices are going and the economy not going my little girl won't be visiting the "Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique" anytime soon.

i saw this on a TV show- rediculously expensive ( i think they start at 50,000yen ) AND only ADULTS can stay!! no kids at a disney place - how silly!

Kids wouldn't need places like this if their parents paid attention to them even just a little bit.
After putting on this getup, what would you say to your daughter: "NOW, you are pretty," with the implication that without makeup and costumes, she is not worth looking at.

Helloklitty, that's what Japanese women say as it is. After living in a Japanese dorm, I've seen firsthand that "pretty" or even kawaii, if you will, requires styled hair and makeup and put together clothes. The girls I lived with would not go out of their room without makeup fully done, even if it meant them being late.

Fantasy sells and is alluring. Disney knows that very well. The phenom of people who are posers in every day life is the same except for age and class.
