United Airlines announces schedule changes for Japan
TOKYO —
United Airlines has announced changes to its schedule for customers traveling to and from Japan for the winter season. Responding to seasonal demand, United has made the following changes for the period Oct 31, 2010 through March 26, 2011:
- Reinstate Narita International Airport-Beijing Capital International Airport (NRT-PEK) service, to reflect ongoing business travel demand between Narita and Beijing, including service for customers from the mainland U.S. traveling through Narita to Beijing.
- Introduce the first Boeing 777 fleet in the Pacific region that is fully outfitted with United’s International Premium Travel Experience, between Kansai International Airport and San Francisco International Airport (KIX-SFO). The B777 aircraft flying this route have fully lie-flat bed seats in United First and United Business, along with enhancements in United Economy including larger video screens and video on demand. This route will also increase from five times weekly for the winter season in 2009 to daily service.
United Vice President – Pacific James Mueller said, “United is always looking for ways to better serve our customers, and these changes are another example of our flexibility in reacting to their needs. Passengers will particularly enjoy the comfort and convenience of our fully outfitted International Premium Travel Experience, which includes true lie-flat bed seats in United First and United Business and iPod connectivity, enabling customers in the front cabins to enjoy their own videos on a 15.4-inch personal screen.”

"... is always looking for ways to better serve our customers" yea right. That's why the seats are so close together, the drink list is cheap, and often the food and snacks are so cheap that I can't understand how they can call it gourmet. Business class on my last flight had a simple ham and cheese wrap which might have cost they 50 cents to make. IF that... And their rule of no snacks on a short (6 hour flights) is crazy. Attendants are often in the galleys doing nothing but chatting and for the most part rude. When are they going to realize they are just bus drivers in the sky and attendants are just glorified waits. Is it so hard that they stand for 12 hours a day and give people their food and drinks. millions of people do it everyday in the world and at their pay they should be very very happy. Actually saw one yawn during the safety film at the start. So their comments about safety are crazy some can't even stay focused at the start of their flight. I'm just happy that Singapore Airlines have recently lowered their prices to compete on price with United. Flying them everywhere I can.
