ANA’s low cost airline Vanilla Air, on Nov 2 launched flights between Hong Kong and Tokyo (Narita).

Vanilla Air is operating the route with Airbus A320 aircraft in a one-class 180-seat configuration. The airline will fly between Hong Kong and Tokyo three times per week on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays until Jan 31, 2015.

From Feb 1, the airline will increase the frequency of the route to daily, and then twice daily from Feb 21.

“The name of Vanilla Air was inspired by the sophisticated and fresh flavor of Vanilla popular in the world. I would like Vanilla Air to become the airline company as widely loved as vanilla and to continue to provide passengers with safe and comfortable services,” said Tomonori Ishii, president of Vanilla Air.

From Tokyo (Narita), Vanilla Air currently operates two international routes, namely Taipei (Taoyuan) and Seoul (Incheon); and three domestic routes to Sapporo, Okinawa and Amami Oshima.
