Well Happy Birthday Virgin but it might have something to do with the serious caning you are currently taking on prices from British Airways too eh?
I was recently offered 40,000 yen to the UK by BA including taxes. In my experience Branson is seldon the cheapest.

It has definitely more to do with the recession and the low oil prices than with any "anniversary".
I am kind of flummoxed that they still are asking for fuel surcharges at this price level.

The travel agency informed me yesterday that the fuel charge and taxes will be reduced starting April 1 this year. 40,000 yen on VS is a welcoming present! Thanks Mr Branson!

Oil prices and other commodities reflect the cost of when they were contracted. So those prices are reflected from the past bids, not on today's actual costs. Economics 101
