This is how the taliban work. If they don't like you they accuse you of something they don't like whether you're "guilty" or not. Remember according to them Afghani's want to be ruled by them and their interpretation of sharia law.
On the other hand when you have corrupt Afghani government officials tima and again you have Afghan civilians swapping from on side to another depending on who puts food on their table and money in their pockets. These people are stuck in a such a cycle of self inflicted misery that its impossible to expect them to build a stable natural "democratic" society with these recurring situations.

A policy of terrorizing the civilian population into true happiness under Shariah Law, well their version of it anyway...

It's just amazing Americans think this war is winnable. Near Stone Age tactics and strategies are humbling the most powerful military in human history.

Well the only reason "Stone age" tactics and stratagies are working is because in spite of everything the US and allied forces respect the rules of war and human rights and attempt to build nations not just destroy them.
If civilised countries didn't have those this would have been resolved quite quickly with the very nasty aspect of total annihilation and genocide of Afghanistan with no regards to collateral damage. Afghanistan would be either a smoking crater or a quiet wasteland devoid of human life. Remember, we think genocide is a crime against humanity, where as some groups think genocide is a way to get rid of those that don't fall in line to their standards.

Says a guy who would push a gas chamber button if it were labelled Taliban. Hypocrisy noted!

The new great game is just getting bloodier! Last year McChrystal (the now-ex General) warned that the US must rethink its entire Afghan strategy. The general bemoaned the corrupt Karzai Gov't (unusually candid for an occupying military chief), and that the whole situation will only get worse. That was September 2009! This was 60 Minutes-- way before McChrystal's now infamous Rolling Stone interview.
Nothing have changed, nothing will change! Counterinsurgency operations-- which McChrystal often points, and where the occupying forces now stands, are painfully slow.
Local politics will be the more contentious part-- can McChrystal's successor (General Petraeus)now guarantee that harmonization with tribal factions would be less shady and less perilous for foreign troops? I doubt it...
But as we say here in Australia either you're in it to win it or you're now looking for your way out.

There have been enough American lives lost.
Get the hell out of Afghanistan and Iraq today. We're not going to make these countries into new America's of democracy. They are going to go back into the middle ages as soon as we leave.
We've lost enough American troops, spent enough money and wasted our creditability as a world leader. < :-)

You're assuming too much smith. I like how this one woman put it in regards to extreme fundamentalist groups like the taliban, "You can believe in a rock for all I care brother, as long as you don't throw those rocks at me." Remember, why is the US in Afghanistan again?

What is so stone age about their tactics or strategies? What makes them outdated?
For example I don't think hitting an armored vehicle in the same spot repeatedly to pierce through the armor is an out dated tactic.

I was wondering that myself. I just assumed that in the Stone Age people used civilians for cover and killed children to keep communities in line, but I wasn't sure.
