Discrimination's bad, but when people insist on wearing Halloween costumes on their flights, there's nothing wrong with taking extra precautions. The airline should have seated them apart, on window seats, with a football player (preferably a defensive linebacker) beside them to block their access to the aisle.

Yes stupid airline folks, judging people to be terrorist specifically by how they dress. To be honest, a terrorist would not try to stand out if they could, the airline folks involved deserve to have their butts sued off them cos of this. You can't judge a person by how they look in the slightest. You can judge a person by their actions, and these guys were just minding there business. Doesn't say what country they were from though, just that their muslim in traditional Islamic dress from w/e country they come from. I've got no love for Islam and the hardline and weak "moderate" fanatics that choose to follow it, but this is quite stupid for tossing people off a plane "cos they dress funny" mentality. Well it is NC and Tennessee though.

I call THREE security checks (including a very close pat-down) and two returns to the gate being MORE than precautious, and why should these men be seated apart? It's pretty clear that the pilots bigotry was the problem, and the airline did what it could to prevent the situation from occurring, short of firing the pilot, which will probably happen now (hopefully, anyway). As one poster said, all the man did was add to their cause -- they were on their way to an anti-discrimination gathering, and they were discriminated against.

Not to my knowledge they don't. They sometimes have to pay for two seats, but I don't recall any overweight people being kicked off... unless maybe they objected.

There is definitely more to the story than just Indian dresses.
A safe guess is that they did everything to provoke the airline to get kicked out, and then cry foul about it. This desensitization campaign, supported by the Hamas front CAIR has been going on for a while, and it has been profitable to boot.

These quotes tell me that these guys were trying to provoke this kind of reaction. These guys are discriminatory themselves whereas they don't care about discrimination of others only muslims. They want their cake and eat it too. They want to fight "Islamophobia" but dress so as to get that reaction. These were guys looking for a fight. They found it. But it saddens me to think that they will probably win due to all the PC thinkers who are afraid of anything from honest opinions to peanut butter that they make it so that there are no honest opinions expressed or peanut butter allowed in school lunches. It's the PCers and the guys looking for a fight who are the weirdos.

The unusual combination of dress is one thing, but there is no description or record of their attitude at the time.
Easy for them to sue over this. Easy for us to discuss clothing here, but they were on their way to a conference on Islamophobia! Challenging looks? Paranoid looks? Despising looks? What?
Had they been calm and respectful then he probably would have had no objections to letting them on.
My guess is that the captain made his final decision on their expressions and the look in their eyes. Without proof to the contrary, I am afraid I would have to back the captain's decision here. If he was wrong in this case, still nobody got hurt, even if many people were temporarily incovenienced.
Captains still need our support making such difficult decisions.

Well, it's Nashville, where some people are made uncomfortable by blacks, Puerto Ricans, Jews, Catholics, and certainly Muslims. Other people there are fine with all of the above. Too bad the first batch were working when these guys got on. If they went through two security screenings as well as questioning...enough is enough even if they were wearing a Bozo the clown outfit. If the security folks need to check that many times, then we need new security folks. Anyone really wanting to cause harm will look and dress like everyone else just to get the job done.

Don't blame the good people of Nashville for this. They didn't have a problem with the two men. This is all on the pilot.

Well, it's not completely clear. The two men were on board and everything was fine, but then "Shortly after the plane pulled away from the gate, the pilot announced the aircraft was returning to the terminal."
So the question is what happened that made the plane return? My assumption was that there were a bunch of the good people of Nashville complaining, since the pilot would be in the cockpit flying the plane unless somebody said something. I admit that it could be just the pilot's decision as you say, but why would the pilot have started to leave and then turned around?
Now after the plane returned and the pilot refuse these guys entry, THAT was completely the decision of the pilot, but I feel like there is some missing piece of information about the first departure.

What did these guys say and do, trust me just dressing a certain way doesnt get you kicked off a flight in America. These guys were probably acting like the 9-11 hijackers to a tee, just for this kind of press coverage.

Things like asking for seat belt extensions when they dont need them. Walking toward the cabin before take off. Spouting prayers and saying praise allah and all that stuff. And yes they do this I have seen it with my own eyes flying in America. These people in particular I believe belong to CAIR and the event seems to be orchestrated. Of course the real intent of the unusual behavior is to flush out the Air Marshal if there is one on the flight. Trust me businesses dont make money kicking people off of their flights for no good reason. The Airline would have fired the pilot if he had not provided a good reason. Remember 9-11 happened because people ignored the actions of people, a lot of people now act out the behaviors to a tee, and they get kicked off the flight.

On a side note a very similar thing happened on another airline, CAIR threatened to have muslim Americans boycott the airline and their ticket sales went through the roof. This is not the first time something like this has happened. If you want to find real discrimination look for the families with kids and women with kids who get booted, ooh wait, that hasn't happened has it?

Yes CAIR seems to be out to pick a fight orchestrating trouble so that it can justify it's existence and once again show muslims in America that they are being the victims of discrimination. Making an example of these two was good work by the pilot and we need more people who are prepared to stand up and take the appropriate action.
This pilot deserves a raise a promotion and a medal.

A plane highjaker would wear modern clothes, have no beard, and act cool as much as possible. Look at previous cases (70s and up until the most recent case). Based on your discriminative comments, I do think that CAIR has a real case in the US.

I'm not prejucdice at all, but when I board flights, I do tend to get a little nervous when I see another passenger that appears to be from the Middle East. I know it's not the right mentality and sounds hypocritical in a way, but it's a subconsious feeling that I get when I fly. I know alot of my friends have the same feelings too. I haven't been on a flight where a passenger has worn the traditional clothing yet, but it's sad to admit, but I'd probably feel a little more uncomfortable with them doing so.
