'Tis a shame bush steered all the troops and funding away from OBL and his self-proclaimed war on terror to chase off invisible connections in Iraq. This kind of thing might not be happening.

They were Brits - Royal Marines. RIP the day after Armistice Day.

Smith, would you support sending more troops and money from your own country?
JoeBigs at 10:15 PM JST - 13th November
Time to send it the troops so we can take care of this before it gets any worse!

Superlib I agree...
Afgahnistan is an UN war and maybe the other countries should increase the troops there.. And we Americans can all go home and watch the war on TV and be critical of the fight...
Ahhh wouldnt that be nice...

This was the original fight. george bush purposely abandoned the real fight in Afghanistan and went to Iraq. We still have the Taliban. Thanx george. < :-)

Neither the occupation of Afghanistan or Iraq are going to work. It's been a foregone conclusion for sometime, but instead of keeping on the blinkers ans shouting "La La La I can't HEAR you" a bit louder, it's time for us all to piss off home, save the lives of our own troops and our own dosh and let them slug it out in a "winner takes all" fundie bloodbath.
Bush Co supposedly went to find one man. They failed again there, too.

Really? I thought Bush left it to the UN, ya know the wonderful, lovable UN thats a model of decency, harmony, and incorruptibility. You're saying that the US needs to do more in Afghanistan? Are you saying the US is the worlds policeman? That the UN can't handle the job without more US troops to do the bleeding and the dying?
Maybe we should insist that other countries actually pony up the troops needed, rather then relying our blood and treasure to do the job.

Let Mullah Omar coexist with Ahmadinejad, Kim Jong-Il, Mugabe and Edward M. Liddy: the bad guys more often than not get what they deserve from their own in due time.
For the past seven years I have tempered my criticism of the Bush administration based on the cards the United States were dealt following September 11th; in spite of shifting the Coalition’s focus from Afghanistan to Iraq; the bounty the US was accused of generating a civil war in Iraq over; or even his hinting to avenge the mistakes of his “daddy” during Desert Storm. The fact that al-Qaeda has been crushed in Iraq, and the likes of Abu Musab Al-Zarqawi and Saddam Hussein aren’t “hanging” around Baghdad anymore should be seen as a very good thing.
But to hear former CIA chief Porter Goss allude with an air of assurance to his knowledge of Osama bin Laden’s whereabouts during a press conference some four years ago, coupled with an anxious “clandestine” redoubling of special operations in Pakistan since September to capture or kill bin Laden…
It’s simple: if the departing President does not deliver Osama bin Laden’s cadaver by Inauguration Day, 2009, then the criticism against him, Rumsfeld, Wolfowitz et al for opening the front in Iraq will have been entirely justified; and his legacy as commander-in-chief will be seen as one of the worst in American history.

"Really? I thought Bush left it to the UN"
To find bin Laden? Nah, bush made the dead or alive calim, and well, I suppose he is.
Bush Co crapped on the UN when it wouldn't do its' bidding. And it's support base (or what's left of it) blame it for everything else. Kinda hilarious dontcha think?

I'll expand my question to include Canadians and Europeans. Would you guys support your country sending more troops and committing more resources to Afghanistan?
Madverts at 06:26 PM JST - 14th November
It's a waste of time. Afghanistan might have been feasible, but the Iraq fiasco allowed the Taliban to re-group and become a pain in the ass again.
The blame can be shared fairly between third world fundiism, and the failures of Bush Co.
